Update on the storage of materials on the green waste site, Streatham Campus

by Kevin Mitchell on 3 March, 2022

-Please see the update I received today below:

Dear Councillor,

I am writing to provide an update on the storage of materials on the green waste site at the top of Rennes Drive on the University of Exeter, Streatham Campus.

We can confirm that the major excavation work is due to start on the CREWW building site next week, from Monday 7 March, and will last for approximately six weeks, depending on ground conditions, and complete by the end of April. This is slightly later than detailed in the letter we shared with you on Tuesday 8 February (please see attached for your reference), as the ground investigations have taken a little longer than expected.

As mentioned in the letter, the excavated soil will be transported and stored on the green waste site at the top on Rennes Drive, until some of it can be reused on the CREWW site. We expect to have one or two lorries on turnaround to transport the soil to the green waste site, depending on the ground conditions. If we can get two lorries working on turnaround then we can potentially complete the excavation work sooner.

For your information, the letter attached has been shared with the Hillcrest Park residents group and the update above has been shared with them today.

Please let us know if you have any queries about the project.

Many thanks,

John Vickery.
